After thisismindful, some reflections

What a great day it has been at thisismindful! A full day conference in Melbourne, around the concept and practice of mindfulness. It attracted people pushing that edge of learning and self-discovery especially in the context of new technologies, work and societal change.

I am really happy to have met a lot of business professionals who are working on self-development and applying the concepts of mindfulness, awareness and compassion in their work.

As I have written in the past, I believe that ability to be mindful is becoming a prerequisite to be a successful leader today. Some of the speakers today confirmed this hypothesis. @rexster talked about mindfulness as crucial aspect of the leaders’ ability to create and support change. @ronlaurie showed us how important it is to remember that the reality we construct around us is subjective, and that language that we most often rely on to explain our points of view is generic.

Also it was great to take part in the afternoon open sessions, facilitated by @stevehopkins. I think it was first time I took part in an open session facilitation, and I think I will do more research on them and perhaps couple of blog posts, as they inform my interest in the topic of learning organisations .

I would like to thank @rosshill and @janstewart for making it happen. What a great idea! I am looking forward to the next one, and am willing to help out in any way I can to support it.
